How To Prevent A Bad Odor During your Period

Menstrual blood in healthy women has a slight odor, which does not cause discomfort.

Bad odors sometimes appear due to the growth of pathogenic bacteria. Following these simple recommendations can help control it:

  • Change pads at least every 4 hours, tampons every 4-8 hours, and empty menstrual cups at least every 12 hours. Do this regardless of how full or empty the hygiene product is because it is the main source of unpleasant odor.
  • To reduce sweating, wear underwear made of natural fabrics.
  • Wash your vulva twice a day without soup
  • If necessary use unscented, alcohol-free wet wipes.
  • Do not get rid of the smell by douching or using deodorant sprays.
  • If the smell has a fish-like quality, please consult a doctor.
